The People recently published an article about burning calories on rollercoasters, based on some simple experiments I recently performed on one of their reporters (pictured). It’s worth noting that by far the most beneficial thing about going to a theme park is the walking around you have to do. Riding ‘coasters does burn calories, but at the rate of roughly one chip per ride. Given the queues at most theme parks you’d be lucky to burn off a handful from the rides themselves. Still, nothing wrong with a little media attention to biodata.
