I’ve been thrilled to be a part of Durex’s “Great Sex Moves You” campaign this year, studying pleasure and arousal in couples from all over the world having sex, with Prof Walker and the fabulous Susan Quilliam (note the comma). We started with a week long experiment set against the stunning backdrop of Venice in summer, then sent our couples off to do their homework. Then, not content with that, we then made the earth move with a mass participation app – crowdsourcing sex data from over a million individuals. Here’s a link to an article about it. And I got to ride a gondola. No Cornetto though alas…
One more time, the Thrill Lab makes its way to brave Alton Towers’ Big 5 rollercoasters. This time to do a hard dispassionate numerical comparison of the amount of thrill each generates. We wired up a motely collection of participants and measured their responses as they trundled round the rides. If you need to know, here’s the ranking:
- The Smiler
I don’t see this as a measure of how “good” the rides are per se, but in terms of objective thrill, that’s the ranking our experiment indicated. Have you been on all of them? Do you agree with our assessment?
